Research in the School of Music and Performing Arts is supported by two research centres, the Centre for Musical Research and the Performance Research Centre. These centres draw together the work of our staff and postgraduate students to create a supportive environment for the development of research within the School. The centres organise a joint series of research fora and performance events, drawing on work undertaken by its members, and visiting researchers and practitioners. They co-ordinate research activity within the School, from individual work to large scale projects. In the recent Research Excellence Framework, 85% of our submission was recognised internationally in terms of originality, significance and rigour, with 26% judged as being world-leading.
The CMR and PRC are based at the Newton Park campus, as well as Corsham Court, BSU’s Centre for Research and Postgraduate Study.
